What is Plinko?
Plinko is inspired by the iconic TV game show segment, popularised in online casinos by BGaming. Instead of the traditional crash mechanic (watch a multiplier, cash out before it crashes), Plinko drops a ball down a peg board. The ball bounces randomly through the pegs and lands in one of the multiplier slots at the bottom.
It’s not strictly a crash game – you’re not cashing out, you’re waiting for the ball to land. But it sits firmly in the same “instant game” category as crash games, sharing the provably fair ethos, fast round times, and direct risk/reward relationship.
How Plinko Works
- Choose your risk level: Low, Medium, or High. This determines the multiplier distribution.
- Choose the number of rows: 8–16 rows of pegs. More rows = more potential spread = more volatility.
- Drop the ball. It bounces through the pegs and lands in a multiplier slot.
- Win = stake × multiplier in the slot it lands in.
The key decision is risk level and row count. These two settings determine the volatility profile of your session.
RTP by Risk Level
This is where Plinko separates from the category:
| Risk Level | RTP |
|---|---|
| Low | Up to 99% |
| Medium | ~97% |
| High | ~95% |
The 99% RTP on low risk is one of the highest in all of online casino gaming. It means the house edge is just 1%, which makes Plinko one of the most mathematically player-friendly games available.
The catch: low risk means low multiplier variance. You’ll land frequently in the middle multiplier slots (close to 1x) with rare excursions to the edges. High wins require high-risk settings, which come with lower RTP.
Plinko Strategy
Unlike traditional crash games, there’s no cashout decision in Plinko. Strategy is entirely about setup:
The Low-Risk, Long Session Approach
Low risk + 8-12 rows + 99% RTP = the purest form of slow bankroll management in crash gaming. You’ll rarely win big, rarely lose big, and sustain your bankroll longer than any other crash-adjacent game.
The High-Risk Hunt
High risk + 16 rows = chasing the 1,000x slot at the extreme edges of the board. This is high variance – most balls land in the middle with low multipliers, but edge landings are big when they come.
Provably Fair Verification
BGaming’s Plinko provably fair system lets you verify each ball drop outcome. The trajectory of the ball, while visually random, is determined by a pre-committed cryptographic seed.
Verdict
BGaming Plinko is excellent for players who want the crash game experience with the highest possible RTP. The 99% low-risk setting is the best RTP in the category and the provably fair system is robust. The lack of a real-time cashout decision is a different psychological experience from traditional crash games – some will prefer it, some will miss the tension. Worth exploring for any crash game player.
